Clarissa Rocha began her dance studies in Brazil at the age of 11. Seven years later she started to work as a teacher and as a dancer. Throughout her career, she has always tried to balance those two professions that she loves, teaching and performing, as she considers them as complementary. When she was 23 years old she then decided to move to Madrid, Spain where she carried on her studies and where she graduated in Dance and Choreography from the well-regarded Maria de Avila Dance Conservatory. At the same time, she was performing with different dance companies of various styles, from aerial dance and outdoor performance to contemporary dance. During the 8 years she lived in Madrid she also worked as ballet, contemporary dance and Pilates teacher. In 2013 Clarissa moved to London. Since she arrived she has collaborated in a post-graduate dance project at the London Contemporary Dance School and she continues with her career as a dance teacher.
Although with us at Ballet4life since September 2014, it seems as though Clarissa has been part of our big dance family all along! Her warmth, enthusiasm, and attention to detail have won her many followers. She did an amazing job with the Tuesday Contemporary classes, Wednesday evening Intermediate drop-in and Beginner Pointe, as a cover for our 50+ classes, offering top private training to individual clients and leading the Beginner Follow-On courses. Her short pieces choreographed for our lovely groups who performed in June 2015 at the Bedford Park Festival and at our first Summer Showcase at Bell Studios June 2016, were clever, enjoyable, delightful and well received by the audiences.
Donna was very pleased to collaborate with her on the development and production of a bespoke dance programme for Arts 4 Dementia www.arts4dementia.org.uk that successfully ran from September - November 2015 in West London. The first and only dance programme of its kind in the area! Ballet4life looks forward to hopefully continuing with this in early 2017 especially since the clients responded so positively to the programme.
Clarissa also undertook the Dance for PD® course Summer 2015 in Leicester, England with People Dancing and holds a current Enhanced DBS and PLI.
We showered Clarissa with our best wishes and warmth as she embarked on her maternity leave December 2015. Our congratulations went to her and her husband when they announced the birth of their beautiful baby boy in January 2016. She returned and taught the Monday and Wednesday evening Ballet classes, Thursday Beginner Ballet Course, Saturday classes and she lead our Wednesday daytime programme at St. Peter's Hall Dance Studio in Chiswick. Now we shower her and her family once again with our very best and heartfelt wishes as they start a new chapter of their lives in Switzerland!
